A one-year-old child died Sunday evening after a fire engulfed a rooftop shelter in Kasarani. It is suspected that the fire may have been started by a stove that had been left on by the caretaker of the four storey building as he went to attend to a tenants plumbing problem. Two children were in the caretaker's rooftop shelter when the fire started. One of the children managed to escape leaving his one year old brother behind. The wooden shelter was reduced to ashes. The fire did not spread to the flats below.
