EXCLUSIVE: Adebayor joins Tottenham on loan.

Tottenham have sealed the loan signing of Emmanuel Adebayor from Manchester City - after a secret last-ditch bid to hijack the move by Inter Milan failed.

The striker, however, will not be allowed to play against his parent club when Spurs entertain City on Sunday.

Adebayor, 27, will have a medical in London on Wednesday after Tottenham agreed to fund a larger share of his £170,000-a-week wages then first suggested.

The deal had stalled because of the £25million ex-Arsenal striker's reluctance to take a drop in salary after being axed from the first team by City boss Roberto Mancini.

The frontman is also keen for Spurs to prove their ambition in the transfer market, with Chelsea-target midfield star Luka Modric's future looking increasingly uncertain.

When Inter's 11th-hour attempt to take the player on loan fell flat, it cleared the way for Tottenham to grab Adebayor, who was loaned out to Real Madrid by City last season.

Meanwhile, City have insisted Arsenal midfielder Samir Nasri is likely to be their final signing of the summer, despite rumours of a dramatic late move for West Ham's Scott Parker.
