Ancelotti hints at replacing "wobbling" Wenger

Carlo Ancelotti last night made a shameless pitch to replace Arsene Wenger at Arsenal.

The former Chelsea coach, who clinched the double at Stamford Bridge, also put Harry Redknapp on alert at Spurs by insisting he wants to come back to a top job in English football.

Ancelotti said: "It's evident that [Arsene] Wenger's bench is wobbling and that in several months' time, an English coach will be appointed to replace [Fabio] Capello in the national team, which will free up a place in a club.

"But I am in no hurry. The fact that I'm not coaching does not cause me anguish. In fact, I am enjoying life."

"I have a strong will to remain in England. For a coach, this is the ideal country.

"But I would only consider [coaching] top clubs, including Tottenham and Liverpool."

Ancelotti was sacked in May after the Blues' unsuccessful defence and their failure in the Champions League.

Tottenham chief Redknapp is on a four-game winning run but is also the hot favourite to replace Capello after Euro 2012.
