Tevez move to Inter could depend on Balotelli

Mario Balotelli could hold the key to Manchester City's chances of off-loading Carlos Tevez to Inter Milan this month.

City bought striker Balotelli from Inter in a £26million deal in 2010, and still owe the Italian club around £5m as part of the structured payment of his transfer fee.

Inter, meanwhile, have had an initial bid of £20m bid for Tevez rejected, with City demanding £25m for their former skipper.

However, City are now considering the option of waiving the outstanding amount they owe on Balotelli in return for accepting £20m for his fellow forward.

As Tevez's exit inches nearer, the Blues are unlikely to make any signings this month, now that midfield target Daniele De Rossi poised to sign a new deal with Roma.

De Rossi was City boss Roberto Mancini's top transfer target, with City willing to hand the Italy international a mega deal worth £160,000-a-week.

But the 28-year-old, a World Cup winner with Italy, has decided to pledge his long-term future to his hometown club.

De Rossi is in the final six months of his current contract at Roma and talks about a new deal had broken down, which put City on alert.

Yet fresh negotiations between Roma director Franco Baldini and De Rossi's agent Sergio Berti have resulted in the player agreeing a five-year-deal worth around £100,000-a-week.
