Alberto Aquilani, Mario Balotelli and Peter Crouch are on an AC Milan wish-list of loan signings.
The cash-strapped Italian champions have had a quiet summer transfer window, with no major buys.
But pre-season defeats by Inter Milan and Juventus have increased the demands for reinforcements from fans, and coach Massimo Allegri, before the Serie A season starts next week.
Aquilani, who was on loan at Juve last season, is now back with Liverpool. A transfer to Fiorentina collapsed and though the Italy midfielder would prefer a permanent move back to Serie A, Milan reckon the lure of Champions League football can persuade him to join them for a season.
An ankle injury to striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has meant Milan are also looking for cover up front, with Manchester City’s Balotelli their first choice and Tottenham target-man Crouch an alternative.
