Roberto Mancini has admitted Manchester City must play with more flair and adventure if they are to win the title.
City's pragmatic approach last season - playing for draws against the Premier League's big clubs while trying to beat the so-called lesser sides - ultimately saw them achieve their objective, as they finished third to guarantee Champions League football.
But Mancini knows City, who finished nine points behind United last season, must play with less caution and score more goals if they are to turn their ambition and potential into the hard currency of a first Premier League crown.
City scored 60 Premier League goals last season, 18 fewer than champions United, and Mancini said: "We need to score 10 or 15 goals more than last season.
