Kanye West Snags Seven VMA Nods; Eminem Follows With Three

Rap star/producer Kanye West has been nominated for seven MTV Video Music Awards, it was announced earlier tonight (July 20th).

Kanye lead all of the male nominees this year, earning seven nominations for his videos “All of the Lights” and “Power," along with a nomination for his appearance and Katy Perry's video for “E.T.”

Kanye is up for Best Hip-Hop Video, Best Male Video, and two for Best Collaboration, for his duet with Rihanna and Kid Cudi for the track “All of the Lights.”

Eminem and Nicki Minaj checked it with three nominations each, Eminem for best male video, best direction and best cinematography for his collaboration with Rihanna titled “Love the Way You Lie,” while Nicki is up for Best Hip-Hop Video and Best Female Video.

Newcomers Tyler the Creator, Wiz Khalifa, and Big Sean were also nominated for awards for the first time in their careers, while artists like Lil Wayne, Justin Bieber and Pitbull also up for an award.

Katy Perry led all of the nominees with a total of nine, including nods for Best Pop Video, Best Collaboration, Best Special Effects, Video of the Year and Best Direction.

Singer Adele checked in with seven nominations for her song "Rolling Deep" and her album 21.

The VMA's are scheduled place at the Nokia at Theater in Los Angeles on August 28th. The show will air live on MTV beginning at 9:00 PM
