Kim Kardashian is no stranger to dangerous fashion.
But this time the curvaceous 31-year-old isn't wearing a shoe-string bikini.
The reality star posted a picture of an Yves Saint Laurent pistol on her Twitter and Instagram accounts today, writing the words 'Bang bang' underneath the photograph.
Some were admiring: 'A YSL gun? Great for us chicks that love high fashion!'
Other comments were critical: 'Oh that is setting a great example to the millions of teens around the world following you', said one follower on Twitter.
There was also no shortage of sassy humour, with one fan writing: 'Don't need it! You're A$$ is bullet proof' [sic]
It wasn't clear from her post whether the gun - which has been popping up on a handful of pop-culture sites - is a real gun or just a fashion accessory.
Kim posted the controversial image just a day after she was photographed at San Diego Zoo, holding her nephew Mason Disick.
Camera crew in tow, she was at the zoo for a family day out with her pregnant sister (and Mason's mother) Kourtney Kardashian, brother Rob Kardashian and the reality siblings' mother, Kris Jenner.
Putting her feisty credentials on display, the reality star showed her nephew how to make a claw and growl as they looked into an animal cage.
The professional celeb likely got her taste for guns about four years ago, during the second season of 'Keeping Up With the Kardashians'.
This was when Kris Jenner took her daughters Kim, Kourtney and Khloe to a shooting range.
The sisters learned how to fire a pistol after the family's store was vandalised, but said at the time they weren't keen to use the weapons in a real-life setting.
