Eden for United? Spurs target Hazard 'flattered' by Fergie interest as race to sign Lille ace hots up

Eden Hazard has admitted he would interested in a move to Manchester United after the Lille playmaker was watched by Sir Alex Ferguson.

The 21-year-old is considered one of Europe's hottest properties and has been linked with a host of top clubs.

And Ferguson was in the stands on Saturday to watch Hazard in his side's 2-1 defeat at Lyon.

Despite Paul Scholes' surprise decision to come out of retirement earlier this year, United are short of options in midfield.

Hazard told La Voix du Nord: 'Of course [United interest me], this is a club that excites everyone, but for now my focus is on Lille.

'But yes, it is a pleasure to be watched by one of the best coaches in the world, if not the best.'

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is also a big fan of Hazard but fears the Belgian international will be tempted by a move to Old Trafford.

He said: 'Our owner’s ready to pay for a talent like Hazard.

'But United are following him closely. City too. It’ll be difficult.'
Hazard previously claimed he would be keen to move to Spurs but that a switch to La Liga would also appeal.

'Maybe I will play there [Tottenha,] next season,' he said. 'It is a nice club with a lot of good players and absolutely a top coach.

'The transfer is still pending. I have not signed anything yet, but I hope it will happen in the near future.

'Perhaps Spanish football would be better for me, rather than the English.

But if you want to be champion, you would need to play with Barcelona or Real Madrid.
'The opportunities would be much smaller. The competition would be strong at Tottenham too, but less so that at Barca or Real.

'I think I can learn the most in England. You play a big game every week and the atmosphere is great.'
