EXCLUSIVE: Mancini's son has done a Tevez

Roberto Mancini's son refused to come off the subs bench in a
Manchester City reserve game.

The Manchester City boss will be left red-faced now the Mirror has revealed 20-year-old Filippo Mancini reacted angrily when told to go on after 80 minutes of the match just six weeks ago.

When the manager of City’s Elite Development Squad Andy Welsh asked him to replace another player, Filippo refused.

Witnesses of the incident at Hyde’s Ewen Fields ground in east Manchester said Filippo swore at Welsh before storming off.

Instead of leaving with the rest of the squad after the match, Filippo is believed to have been driven away from the stadium in a taxi.

A City spokesman admitted the incident had taken place but stressed that Roberto had not been told about it until Friday.

Mancini will be mortified by the revelations, which have emerged just three days after the City boss told Carlos Tevez he would never play for the club again after accusing him of an identical offence.

Mancini said Tevez was “finished” at City after, according to the Italian, refusing to replace Samir Nasri during the club’s Champions League defeat by Bayern Munich on Tuesday.

Tevez refutes the allegation. He insists he merely refused to warm up because he had already warmed up and was ready to come on.

The incident involving Filippo happened during a pre-season friendly against Liverpool reserves at Ewen Fields, where City play second-string matches, on August 10.

Mancini’s other son, Andrea, who was also on the bench, did not refuse to play and came on as a 60th minute substitute.

No disciplinary action was taken against Filippo.

Neither of Mancini’s sons are contracted to play for City and were using the match to gain experience and fitness.

Filippo played last season in the Lega Pro Seconde Divisione - Italian football’s fourth division - with Virtus Entella.

“Filippo is a non-contracted, unpaid player who was on the substitutes’ bench for the non-competitive game in question,” the City spokesman added.

“In these circumstances, a disciplinary procedure would have been invoked. However, as he was not an employee of the club, this was not a viable option.

“The matter has been dealt with internally. Roberto Mancini was not aware of this incident.”

City’s team on the day, which only boasted one player with first-team experience, Ivory Coast’s Abdul Razak, won the game, 1-0.

“A lot of people at the club knew about it and were shocked by it,” a City source said.
