FORMER GERMAN PRESIDENT VISITS EAST AFRICAN COMMUNITY SECRETARIAT HEADQUARTERS - ARUSHA, TANZANIA

The former President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Prof. Dr. Horst Koehler today paid a working tour to the construction site of the new EAC Headquarters building in Arusha, Tanzania.
The former President was accompanied by Germany’s Ambassador to the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Guido Herz, and Mr. Stefan Reith, Head of Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in Dar es Salaam.
The EAC Secretary General, Amb. Dr. Richard Sezibera accompanied by his Deputies; Dr. Julius Tangus Rotich (Finance and Administration) and Mr. Jean Claude Nsengiyumva (Productive and Social Sectors) received the former President and took him and his entourage on a guided tour of the site lead by the EAC Senior Estates Management Officer, Phil Makini Klerruu. The former President and the Secretary General planted trees at the site to commemorate the occasion.
The new EAC headquarters is funded by the Federal Republic of Germany through a grant to the tune of Euro 14 Million. So far 63% of the construction work has been completed and the target date for completion is 30 August 2011.
