In Tanzania, in the Ngorongoro region, there is a unique attraction known as Shifting Sands. These are two dunes created out of a magnetic sand, crescent shaped, and eerily, seem alive.
The dunes migrate about 17 meters a year around a small area. One can hear the dunes moaning as the wind forces the sand to rub against itself, and the sand that gets blown off the edge of the dune flies out only to carve a sharp turn in the air and boomerang back to the dune.
